Drew Magary was nice enough to be on my show once already when he was promoting The Hike. That was Episode 139 in July of 2017. Kind of a lot has happened since then.

Drew suffered an incredible brush with death when his brain hemorrhaged spontaneously after hosting The Deadspin Awards, went into a coma for two weeks, stayed in the hospital for another three, and recovered for a long while after that. The entirety of the Deadspin staff walked out when their new owners turned out to be red-assed alpha dicks. And Drew’s written and self-published a new dystopian thriller called Point B where teleportation (!!!) has transformed the world.

We talk about all of that and a lot more in a great chat that I think is even better than the first. Like my recent chat with Scott Keith, my wife knows when I talk about “Drew” (in the same way I talk about “Scott”) I’m referring of course to Drew Magary. I have no other Drews in my life with whom I interact regularly, so if I refer to “Drew” I’m talking about something he wrote or tweeted. I was petrified when his brain hemorrhaged, and now you know why. I’ve read more of his words on the internet with the possible exceptions of the already mentioned “Scott” and Roger Ebert.

Be sure to follow Drew on Twitter, read the Funbag over at Vice, and check out his stuff at Gen.
