Zach Eastman is my good buddy. Chief among the reasons he’s a good buddy of mine is that he’s just about the only person I’ve ever known (besides my own father) who can talk about W.C. Fields for three hours with me. Which we did on his show! You can find that right here.
Zach is host of the Yesteryear Ballyhoo Revue, formerly of The Shamley Silhouette, and a co-host of The Reel Nerds Podcast. He’s also a filmmaker, and you can check out his recent short Leather Brown right here. We cover pretty much all of this in-depth with a few choice digressions including talking about the way Quentin Tarantino is able to wring tension out of simple dialogue and why the word “again” is such a great word in terms of comedy. Zach takes me through the story of how he got into Golden Age Hollywood, which is a very sweet story. He also talks about his sobriety journey – the impetus for it, what works and what doesn’t, why he’s so candid about it and a lot more. When Zach and I get together, we can’t not talk, so this one goes a little long. Just the price of doing business.
