Ryan Mehaffey is the Founder and CEO of Feast Over Famine, which “helps servant hearted organizations to scale effectively & navigate the tension where mission and profit collide.” From their website:
Our deepest desire as an organization is to see the global challenges that our world faces (poverty, hunger, incarceration, homelessness, addiction, etc) relieved and to see individuals experience growth, healing, and hope.
We believe that blending the non-profit / mission world with the for-profit / business world is a key piece of the puzzle for accomplishing this goal.
That last sentence struck me because as I listened to Ryan’s journey on this week’s show, he left his cushy (although admittedly stressful) corporate gig at Red Bull because he felt called to make a greater positive impact on the world. Feast Over Famine is the manifestation of his punk rock ethos – DIY, making a scene when none exists already, caring about the person next to you – and his extensive business training in a highly competitive environment.
More than anything, Ryan’s energy is contagious, and his pragmatic, problem solving approach to the world’s greatest problems is infectious. Plus, he’s an old punk like me, s you know I’ll love this dude. Big thanks to Will Matthews for hooking us up.
