For those of you who haven’t heard yet through any of my other social media channels, I got laid off last week from my corporate job. So, in keeping with the spirit of the show, I thought it a perfect time to dig into that experience and share it with everyone.
I reached out to my large social circle, and asked if anyone would be willing to come on the show and talk about their experience of getting laid off. I had two takers, and we sat down yesterday to discuss the circumstances surrounding their layoffs, what the experience itself was like, what they learned from it, and what they’re up to now. Each guy had a dramatically different experience with the process, and it was incredibly insightful to have their experiences to compare against each other.
So, have YOU ever found yourself sitting across the table from the Bobs (pictured above) and had to interview for your own job? Ever been part of a company restructuring or “right sizing”? Ever found some George Clooney type in your company’s conference room because your own management is too cowardly to fire the employees themselves? Ever been let go in the bcc line of a mass email?
Not you? Okay. Well then, have you ever wondered what some of those experiences feel like? We’ve got a show that will give you a snapshot into some of them.
So, join us on Wednesday, April 15 (Tax Day! Hooray!), for the Jon of All Trades Laid Off Special! This was an enormously enlightening chat for me, and I think you’ll enjoy it, too. Sit down with Jon, Kyle, and Neil as they recount how their collective experience was similar and how it differed.
You can listen to the show on the Jon of All Trades homepage, download it on iTunes, or stream it on Stitcher.
