Bard Parnell is crazy. At least, that’s what he’ll tell you when you ask him about why he founded Feed Your Crazy. “The world will kill fitness if it can,” he tells me in this week’s episode, “so when we tell people we wake up everyday and push ourselves physically, people think we’re crazy.” And instead of getting annoyed by it, he’s decided to embrace it, and say, “Yep, I am crazy.”
And given that Bard’s favorite crazy to feed is ultrarunning, you might think he’s a bit loony as well. On this week’s show, we take a deep dive into what training for an ultramarathon entails, what the race day(s) experience is like, and why he got into this whole crazy sport in the first place. After hearing about how Bard used exercise to recover from a violent attack from his youth, you’re likely to have no choice but to be inspired to get more active push yourself physically.
I love having the opportunity to sit down with people who do things I know very little about. And hearing about laying down on a cot at an aid station after running more than 50 miles straight at about 2:00 in the morning with many miles still ahead, I think qualifies. I’m proud and excited to bring you this episode, and to highlight someone who is chooses to Feed his Crazy in the best way possible.
