Stacey Dee (the one on the right in that picture, seen with her bandmate Linh Le), is the lead singer of Bad Cop / Bad Cop, one of my favorite bands. She joins me in advance of the Punk Rock Saves Lives Fest coming up on Saturday, July 22 at Ratio Beerworks in Denver.
We discuss the music of Bad Cop / Bad Cop, talk about Stacey’s “gnarly addiction to Xanax” (her words), talk about why she always sees Bad Cop as a Fat Wreck Chords band, and then get into a long conversation about her nonprofit The Sidewalk Project. That conversation gets real and raw about people experiencing homelessness, addiction, harm reduction, and issues facing cities all across the United States. If we say we’re punk rock, what are we doing to help the most vulnerable and marginalized among us? Stacey lives this every single day through her music and through her nonprofit work.
You can keep up with Bad Cop / Bad Cop through their website, on Instagram, on Facebook, and on Spotify. You can find out more about The Sidewalk Project here.
