Conor McGahey is the radio voice of the 2022 Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche for Altitude Sports. I talked to him the day after the celebratory parade that brought 500,000 people into the city (and no arrests!) about this insane Cup run, his career, and our mutual friend Reed Saunders (who is directly responsible for this show, and was my guest way back on Ep. 26). He’s an amazingly talented and kind dude, and it was a thrill to get to chat with him.
I also asked Conor about if he thinks the blackout on two of the three main cable providers has raised his profile, his philosophy on calling the action vs editorializing, what I perceive to be a high degree of difficulty in calling play-by-play for hockey, and working his way up through the Kroenke sports empire. In short, we cover a lot of ground and Conor is very generous in answering all of my questions. He’s a talent I deeply admire, and I’m proud to bring this show to you and Avalanche fans everywhere.
