Ep. 27: Christian Ijin Link – Unit Production Manager for The Magic Bracelet, a Make A Film Foundation Production

Christian Ijin Link is listed on IMDb as having worked in 14 different departments. He recently served as Unit Production Manager on The Magic Bracelet, which is a project of the Make a Film Foundation, directed by Jon Poll, adapted by Diablo Cody, and starring Bailee Madison, Hailee Steinfeld, Jackson Rathbone, JK Simmons, and James Van Der Beek. The story follows Ashley, who inherits a totem bracelet from a friend who died of Mitochondrial Disease – the same illness she herself battles – and leads the girls on a mystical journey of discovery in which a new level of friendship, family and healing is revealed.

This is a Hollywood podcast as we not only talk about the great work of the Make a Film Foundation and The Magic Bracelet, but also how one works in Hollywood. Christian grew up around moviemaking, but has had to carve his own path in the industry. We talk about the importance of networking, why you should create your own content before you even consider going to Hollywood, and why your outrage over the actor who makes $20 million per film is almost certainly misdirected.

The Magic Bracelet will be at the Breckenridge Film Festival Friday, September 19, which coincides with Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Week. During the third week of September, MitoAction and families across the country bring awareness to Mito. Learn more, donate, and get involved. Learn how at MitoAction.org.
