What do I say about Scott Keith here? I’ve probably read more of this man’s words on the internet than anyone else. (For the record, second and third place probably belong to Drew Magary and Roger Ebert.) On one of his old websites, he had a feature called “The Rant Crew” that allowed pretty much anyone to submit anything they wanted and have it appear on the website. The dot-com era of the early 2000’s was pretty boss in a lot of ways because I wrote, like, two things and got picked up by another site that led to me writing for a dozen more and basically kicked off my entire internet writing and podcasting career, still going 20 years later.
So, let’s start over. Scott Keith is the founder of BlogofDoom.com, my first stop on the internet every single day. Scott reviews current wrestling, old wrestling, answers questions from readers, and features the work of other talented writers. He’s got a Patreon, that I also support on the Montreal Tier. And he’s written five books about professional wrestling along with a bunch of other self-published e-books, many of which you can find linked here.
Since I’ve been reading him this long, I knew it would be a waste of time to ask him too many wrestling-related questions, so instead I focused on his life, the evolution of his writing style, the origins of his fandom, and other more meta-style questions. This is an interview I’ve always wanted to do, but after listening to it back I can’t help but wonder, was this a successful interview? I have no idea. It’s stuff I always wanted to know because I’m a Scott superfan (ask my wife – Scott is known by his first name around here because he comes up plenty). Your mileage may vary.
In any event, I hope you enjoy it and if you’re into professional wrestling at all, you should read BlogofDoom.com and donate to Scott’s Patreon. You can also check out Scott on Twitter and Instagram.
