Mike Fisbeck, or “Fizz,” as he’s been known for the majority of his 20 year career in radio, is this week’s guest on the Jon of All Trades Podcast. He’s unusual in that his entire career has been in Colorado, but he’s worked in a variety of formats and timeslots ranging from Top 40 to his current gig as night DJ at 98.5 KYGO fm, which is Denver’s most popular country music station, and consistently one of the market’s highest rated. Fizz and Jon talk about the pros and cons of Clear Channel radio, the insane way radio used to tabulate ratings, the worst DJ name he’s ever been assigned, and a whole lot more. This was an incredibly fun chat, and you can consider this your inside look into how radio gets made.
