Jonathan Shikes is a freelance writer for Denver Westword, author of Denver Beer: A History of Mile High Brewing, and one of my favorite beer nerds in the city. I first met him while doing publicity for the rollout of Old 121 Brewhouse, and have wanted to have him on the show ever since.
During quarantine, it’s important to remember things that make us happy. And for the last decade, at least, I’ve loved craft beer. And Jonathan Shikes is one of the best beer writers in the city, and probably the entire country. Between him and one of my other past guests, this city has some phenomenal beer writing.
On this week’s show, we discuss how Jonathan got into beer writing, he tells me about the book, we share our own gateways into craft beer, and discuss some of our own annoyances with craft beer culture. It’s a fun chat that, while technically it would be bad form to tell you to drink during, I’m not NOT saying you should crack your favorite cold one and enjoy.
You can find the book on Amazon, or you can reach out to Jonathan directly via Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
